Reading text

Every morning, David leaves home early to go to school. He lives on a hill, so he walks down a long road before reaching the main street. Most days, the walk is quiet, but last week he noticed something different. A small brown dog was following him at a distance. It did not bark and it did not try to bite. It only walked behind him, stopping when he stopped. On the second day, David felt sorry for the dog. The animal looked hungry and tired. David did not have much money, but he bought a small piece of bread and gave it to the dog. The dog ate quickly and then stayed close to him. When David arrived at school, the dog waited outside the gate for a few minutes and then ran away. On Thursday, heavy rain started in the morning. David took a plastic bag to protect his notebook, but the streets were full of water. Near the corner, he saw the dog again. This time, the dog was shaking and trying to hide under an old bench. David hesitated, but he decided to help. He held his bag above the dog and walked slowly with it to a dry place. A neighbor saw the scene and said, “That dog belongs to my cousin. Thank you!” David smiled. He understood that kindness can speak louder than words.
